Keswick, situated in the Northern lakes is a tranquil
market town. It sits at the foot of Skiddaw (one of Europe's
oldest mountains), on the edge of Derwentwater
(the widest lake in 'The Lake District). Apart from the
traditional market day (Saturday) the town incorporates
a wide variety of cafes, bakeries, restaurants and pubs and
a huge selection of shops, from the many mountaineering
outlets to fashion and local produce!
There is the famous 'Theatre by the Lake', the pencil museum
(where the first pencil was created), art galleries and much more.

For the outdoor enthusiasts,
many of the great walks begin
from Keswick (or very near by). The Keswick
Launch which
runs boat trips hourly around Derwentwater can drop you
at one of the many landings where you can explore Cat Bells,
Lodore, Causey Pike and more. The area is also ideal for
other popular sports such as paragliding, windsurfing,
horse riding, canoeing, mountain biking or climbing!
